The Arkel brand continues to amaze us; the Tide is one of the first espresso machines with a gear pump. This unique type of pump is for you if you enjoy experimenting with pressure on your espressos. You can fully control this pressure with the pressure profiling knob on the side of the machine.
Arkel's factory is located on the coast in Porto, Portugal. 95% of all parts in their machines come from Europe, which is quite unique nowadays. After Arkel's first model, the Coast, was used all over the world, Arkel gathered all feedback and listened to what was still missing. And that's how the Tide came about, with volumetric buttons, pressure profiling, and a more compact design.
What makes the Tide unique is its gear pump, which operates extremely quietly and is linked to the pressure profiling knob. This allows you to control the pressure yourself and create all sorts of espresso styles. You select which coffee you want to brew using the user-friendly touchscreen buttons, which you can set to your desired volume; the machine automatically stops when the set volume is reached.
The powerful cold touch steam wand froths milk in no time. And with the stainless steel hot water tap, you can easily make an americano or tea in between. Handy: the hot water comes from the coffee boiler, which enhances the taste. Don't drink milk-based drinks daily? Then you can easily switch off the steam boiler with the button on the side of the machine, saving energy costs when you don't need to steam.
In terms of build quality, it's also excellent: the Arkel Tide has a sleek, unique design with a stainless steel housing, finished with tempered glass. Where many manufacturers opt for brass parts, Arkel consciously chooses full stainless steel, which is more durable. The pre-set buttons are easy to operate. Extra nice: it comes standard with a tamper and stainless steel portafilter so you can get started right away.
In short: the Tide once again shows us how innovative Arkel is and how well they listen to home baristas. The Tide is stylish, unique, and makes very good coffees.
